Funding and contributions could come from any content producer, consumer, business, or organization who values what we provide. There will be many variations depending on whether the entity is a non-profit, for-profit or has an affiliation with both.

Collect and distribute funds

Funds collected by Deproduction and allocated to the appropriate project or program on Foss Factory. The following projects are already set up:

  • Drupal Kata - any open source product or project would be set up as a 'subproject' of the Drupal Kata.
    • Open Learning and Collaboration portal - This project will both build off and be an opportunity to contribute new features to the Open Media project. As complete documentation a requirement, there will be an opportunity to collaborate where there is overlap.
    • Media upload and distribution - This is a key component to all Drupal based media projects.
  • Media program (TBD) - and media project, program, or event would be set up as a 'subproject' of this program.

  • FOSS Factory provides an online marketplace that aggregates demand and supply for FOSS projects. In this marketplace people can direct money, time, and skill to enable FOSS projects to succeed.
  • Amazee offers a free platform for people to come together and collaborate online on projects. Features include a project magazine (with cool drag and drop functionality), wiki, events calendar, discussion forums, sponsoring etc.
  • ChipIn - Web-based service that simplifies the process of collecting money from groups of people.
  • Tipjoy - Tipjoy offers as a basic micropayment system that allows bloggers to leave virtual tipjars on their sites, asking for donations from users who appreciate their material. The system can also be used to collect money for any number of purposes, including charity and digital goods.
  • Cofundos - helps to realize bright ideas by providing a platform for their discussion and enrichment and by establishing a process for organizing the contributions and interests of different stakeholders in the ideas.
  • Ideablob is where entrepreneurs and small business owners can share and grow their business ideas – and have a chance to win $10,000 towards fulfilling them.
  • Firstgiving- lets individuals raise money online for any nonprofit organization in the US.
  • Fundable - lets groups of people pool funds to make purchases or raise money.
  • GiveMeaning - online fundraising site emphasizing creative fundraising ideas and other unique forms of charity donation.
  • Giveness - Online Shopping System that generates incremental income for nonprofits whenever a supporter shops online through Giveness.
  • Network for Good - bringing together donors, volunteers and charities online to accomplish good.
  • Pledgebank - allows users to set up pledges and then encourages other people to sign up to them. A pledge is a statement of the form 'I will do something, if a certain number of people will help me do it'.
  • Prosper - People who need money request it, and other people bid for the privilege of lending it to them.
