The following is a partial list of potential revenue streams. There will be many variations depending on whether the entity is a non-profit, for-profit or has an affiliation with both.

  • Sponsorships & Underwriting: Provide a wide range of sponsorship and underwriting opportunities on content and properties.
  • Grants & Donations: All content and code will generated from our program will be open (open source, creative commons, etc.) and educational/cause related.
  • Earned-Income
    • Technology services - Custom development, design, theming, and consulting.
    • Production services - State-of-the-art studio, field, and post production equipment.
    • Web Products - Open source products provided to customers or resellers.
    • Ticket sales
    • Merchandise - CDs, DVDs, Books, T-shirts, other swag
  • Subscription-Based: Stakeholders will have several opportunities to subscribe
    • Web properties
    • Content
    • Educational programs
    • Products as a hosted or subscription based service
  • Audience supported: Similar to public broadcasting, we will provide our audience and stakeholders several opportunities to financially support the content and products they value.
  • Apprentices, volunteers, and strategic partners: A majority of our business value will be a derivative of our complimentary learning programs. By channeling funds through FossFactory we can allocate a percentage of revenue to support our staff while the rest is allocated to the mentors, apprentices, and strategic partners.
